PRESS RELEASE – WINTER NAMM 2005

Tone Up

It’s a fact – acoustic instruments are only as good as the woods they use. You might think you’re getting a bargain with that day-glo dreadnought, but if it’s been knocked together from driftwood then its tone and build will let you down in the end.

Epiphone understands the importance of quality materials. That’s why this Masterbilt Ukulele is made almost entirely of solid mahogany, delivering a fantastic unamplified tone that’s faithful to the traditional Hawaiian originals. Stage, studio or Honolulu beach hut – this new ukulele drops jaws wherever it goes.

Of course, some people won’t get past the Masterbilt Ukulele’s cosmetics. That’s understandable. Between its natural satin finish and subtle body contouring, this instrument has a beautiful simplicity that harks back to the defining Epiphone ukuleles of the 1930s. Others will be blown away by the quality of its construction, from the tapered dovetail neck joint and unique bracing system to the tasteful fret inlays and embroidered lightweight case. But where this ukulele really makes its mark is with its tone – a rich natural voice that will sweeten over time, thanks to the solid woods used in its construction.
